Process Light PPC-EL97 (Explosion Proof)

Description:

The EL97-4TH light family is comprised of four explosion- proof lights with a four-inch housing and threaded connection that allows the use of several styles of process adapters. Designed to suit a wide variety of process illumination requirements, the lights are available with 150-, 70-, and 39-watt high intensity discharge (HID) sources, as well as a simpler version that employs a 120-volt, 150-watt halogen source. HID bulbs have a service life of 10,000"“12,000 hours.

HID sources take some time to reach full brightness and are best employed when the need for light is continuous; they cannot be turned off and then immediately back on. If power is cycled in this way, the ballast will automatically wait a period of time before trying to restart the lamp. HID is several times brighter than a halogen bulb of equivalent wattages.

The HID lamp versions require a separately mounted ballast that can be located up to 30 feet from the light housing. If the ballast can be placed outside the classified (hazardous) area, there would be no need for an explosion-proof ballast housing; however, if it must be operated within the classified area, explosion-proof housings can be supplied. In either case, PPC customers will need to install the needed interconnecting wiring, with proper sealing at the lamp and ballast housings, to maintain the explosion-proof ratings.

Our explosion-proof halogen lamps come in a variety of wattages and provide a lower-cost option that does not require a ballast. Again, PPC customers are required to supply the wiring connections with appropriate sealing.

Materials of Construction:

Illuminators are constructed with stainless steel and 6061 alloy welded aluminum parts. The light is supplied with various types of adapter flanges to permit mounting to many types and sizes of sight glasses.
